With the (slightly) better weather in Vancouver, SUSEP has begun doing outreach activities in the Downtown Eastside neighbourhood in order to expand the program and raise community awareness of what we have to offer.
SUSEP's trained Peer Workers put together small gift bags to hand out to folks on the street. These include snacks, candies, chocolates, hand wipes, fruit bars, and SUSEP business cards. The gift bags are given out as a token of thanks to the community for their time, as Peer Workers describe the Substance Use Support and Employment Program and inquire if the supports we offer are needed.
So far, there have been several intakes to the program from the outreach efforts, and a growth in the number of people attending the biweekly Dr. SUSEP's Green Eggs and Harm Reduction meeting.
